Do you have questions about orthodontic treatment? If so, our Smile Center Silicon Valley dental team is happy to give you the answers you’re looking for! To help you, we have provided the answers to the following frequently asked questions:Question No. 1: When is it recommended to have an orthodontic evaluation?
Answer No. 1: The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that a child should receive an orthodontic evaluation by 7 years old. This is because the teeth and jaws are developed enough for Dr. John Vellequette to notice signs of misalignment.
Question No. 2: Why is it important to align your teeth at a young age?
Answer No. 2: Research has shown that alignment issues can be corrected more easily at a young age because a child’s jaw and face bones are still growing and are flexible.
Question No. 3: What are the different types of braces?
Answer No. 3: There are many different types of braces, including metal braces, ceramic braces, Damon braces, and clear aligners. Some of these appliances are more visible than others, but they all have the same goal—to align your teeth.
Question No. 4: Will treatment be painful?
Answer No. 4: Usually your teeth will be sore for a few days after you first start using your appliance and after any adjustment sessions. This is typical because there will be pressure in your mouth that your teeth aren’t used to.
