Types of Veneers

Porcelain is also more stain-resistant and durable than composite material, so most cosmetic dentists will recommend porcelain veneers for teeth that need the most improvement or for the front teeth that will be visible when smiling. Both types of veneers are custom-made in a dental lab based on impressions of the patient’s teeth.
The Procedure for Dental Veneers
A veneer can make a chipped tooth look whole again while also protecting the tooth from further damage. Veneers can also close gaps between teeth, lengthen short teeth, or change the color of stained or discolored teeth.
The process of creating and placing veneers typically requires two visits. During the first visit, our cosmetic dentist will talk to you about your goals for your smile, examine the overall health of your teeth and gums, and take impressions to create your custom veneers. Typically, temporary veneers will be placed at this time.
During your second appointment, the temporary veneers will be removed, and the permanent ones will be put in place. Because several adjustments are typically necessary to ensure a proper fit, you should schedule a follow-up appointment about a week after placing your final set of veneers.
